2017 Review

It was a glorious return of the annual Contemporary Arts Fair Discover:Gather:Give last weekend with a splash of colour and inspiration from over 40 talented artists.

Contemporary Arts Fair Discover:Gather:Give 2017

The weekend started with a Private View on Friday night “It wasn’t a stuffy evening like some Private Views are” said one exhibitor “It felt like an arty party with the delicious Gin from the Cotswolds Distillery.”

The doors opened to the public on Saturday and hundred of visitors poured in over the two days, with many returning from previous years.

Judith Layhe-Cook, Curator said “It was delightful meeting so many locals and visitors alike who came to see the wonderful artists exhibiting at #Cafdgg. What I love is chatting to visitors and hearing their passion for certain artists exhibiting with us over the weekend.”

The People’s Choice for the best exhibitor was Claire Brierley, with Claire Henley coming a very close second place. Dawn Oakley won the prize draw for a golden duo tea set. Finley, aged five and a half, wrote his own voting slip saying his favourite artist is Van Gogh.

Good weather over the weekend let the busy Golden Cup Café shimmer in the sunshine with tea, coffee from Monsoon Estates Artisan Coffee and cakes by Knead It! Bakery “I know you promised me bling” said a visitor “ but I really didn’t expect it to look so elegant!”

Plans are already in place for 2018, with an Arts Fair the first weekend in June and November with artists exhibiting in Stratford for the first time. Do contact Judith on if you would like more information about the upcoming events.
