Using a range of materials, colour and texture, I find fabric and stitch particularly satisfying

I explore colour and texture using a range of materials but find fabric and stitch particularly satisfying.

Most recently it has been the Warwickshire countryside that has captured my attention: I am convinced that in its quiet way this is one of the most beautiful areas of Britain. The colours and textures of the local landscape change daily through weather and season and the farmland and fields lend themselves so well to the qualities of fabric and stitch.

By incorporating vintage fabric as well as the simply old and forgotten, my textile art pays tribute to the women throughout history who darned, knitted and stitched to keep their families warm and their homes comfortable. I like to think that In my own way I’m continuing a noble and undervalued tradition.
