I work in the ceramic medium, making mainly functional vessels and some low relief panels

Bio

I live in the Henley–in–Arden area and work in the ceramic medium, making mainly functional vessels and some low relief panels.

The inspiration for my work comes from the contrasts and vitality of the landscapes of many countries, which I have visited over the years. The colours and textures of the arid desert terrain have been particularly inspirational in my work.

All my work is hand-built. The surface decoration is applied with Chinese brushes, using slips, oxides and many glazes to emphasise the quality of 3D painting. The glazed ware is fired in an electric kiln to 1260C.

Even after working with clay for many years I still open the kiln with apprehension mixed with excitement.

My work ranges from small pots, 10cm high selling at £30-50 to larger ones around £250.
