Ann Povey #Cafdgg June

I create spoons, tools and utensils with enamel, silver and found objects plus porcelain ceramics

From 1994 -96 Ann completed a part-time Access course to Art and Design, whilst working as a Staff Nurse and went on to do a BA in Contemporary Crafts, graduating in 1999 with a 1stClass Hons.

In 2000 Ann started work at the University of Lincoln as a full time Senior Technician in Glass, Ceramics and Metalwork, retiring in June 2018. During her time as a Technician she completed a MA in Design, graduating in 2005.

Ann has had her own practice since 1999 but since retiring this practice is now full time, she has her own Studio at home in the garden; Studio 43a, where she hand builds her colourful pots using a fine, smooth stoneware or  porcelain clay, using the coiling method of building. The spoons, tools and utensils are created from copper sheet or sterling silver, enamels and found objects.

Ann creates work that explores childhood memories, domestic simplicity and nostalgia.
