“The essence of all beautiful art, all great art, is gratitude”
This quote from Nietzche sums up Frances’ approach to her art – her pictures, all of animals, are created with gratitude for both the wealth of animal life we are lucky enough to have and also for the opportunity to spend her time creating pictures of them.
Frances Daunt is a self-taught animal artist living in Derbyshire. As an animal lover she is fascinated in the ‘soul’ or character of animals and so the focus of her pictures is invariably the eyes. She creates her artwork in a variety of media, including felted artwork (made entirely with wool) and paintings on vintage maps. She works hard to spread a message of conservation whenever possible.
Her pastel work is in private collections world-wide and her felted work, which is exhibited nationally, has won awards including Chairperson’s Choice with the Association of Animal Artists.
