I make quiet tactile ceramics that look good and feel exquisite in your hand.
I make quiet tactile ceramics that look good and feel exquisite in your hand.
I’m Julie Fewster, the person behind Inner Finn Ceramics; the crafter behind the porcelain. I am a dungaree wearing, cat loving, introvert foodie who likes peace and quiet and frankly wishes there was more of it in the world.
I make an eclectic mix of slip cast table ware, decorative household objects and sculpture encompassing my love of both tactile forms and using beautiful things to eat and drink from. My work is influenced by the simplicity of Nordic design after spending six months in Finland, mainly in winter.
Each item of Inner Finn homeware and sculpture is hand cast and individually decorated. Each piece is an expression of the mood and the moment. A one-off for you to hold, to use or place in your home. Objects to treasure, touch, love and use.
I work towards the pleasure I see on people’s faces when they handle my pieces; the smooth tactility of the work somehow soothing away some of their troubles. There’s a little piece of the maker in every handmade piece of work and as a maker I am trying to pass on that connection with that still, quiet space within.
